Katutura meaning (a place where we do not want to live) in Otjiherero, was declared a township for local indigenous people in 1959 during apartheid era. Before that the local indigenous people used to live in a location which today we call Hochland Park. The decision to dislocate the people to Katutura was greatly opposed for practical and logical reasons, but the decision was made and the people had to move. Find out the history and background of this lively township which people today call (a place where we want to live) This tour is very informative and educational. You will visit places of interest such as the Lovers Hill, Parliament Gardsens; Kristus-Kirche; Old location cemetery; Katutura open market; Informal settlement and Penduka Women project.
